What is this? This tool builds an .osc (Open Scale Chain) file for self-hosting an online study. An .osc file chains together consent forms, multiple scales, branching conditions, and completion redirects into a single runnable study session.
Requirements: To use this, you need access to a server with a web server and PHP. You will upload the .osc file, the referenced .osd scale files, and the chain runner (chain-runner.html + chain-runner.js + scale-runner.js) to your server. Data files and session logs are saved on that server and you must access them directly.
Tip: A server with cPanel is an easy graphical way to set this up — upload files via the File Manager, and access your data directory the same way. No command-line access required.
